Hello! Welcome to Odyssey martial arts. Our group of professional, full-time martial arts and fitness coaches believe that every activity starts with first principles and can be broken down into three (very closely linked and interwoven) parts; 

STRENGTH

The physical preparations. 

Perhaps your little one is ‘naturally sporty’? Great! Most of our students aren’t, and that’s ok too. We start our beginners training with the assumption that they haven’t already built up the very specific types of strength and mobility that are needed to safely and productively enjoy their sessions. Instead we build this into our classes and the syllabus alongside the techniques. The stunt training classes are particularly recommended to strengthen their growing bodies safely and build confidence. 

Skill

The technical element. 

This is the part that people mostly think of when they picture martial arts. The techniques, the moves - that sneaky arm lock, crazy kick or effortless throw. These are the specific details and moves that make up our Kickboxing, MMA and BJJ curriculums. 

Will

I’m not happy quoting a Batman villain, but honestly it’s possibly the single most apt quote there is. At Odyssey martial arts there is a strong emphasis on building applicable routines to aid performance in all aspects of life. We don’t buy into the idea that you are simply ‘born tough’ or ‘born weak’. Our systems and personal development plans constantly educate our kids in how to fix goals, plan towards them, set their own boundaries and, where appropriate, push beyond them. 

Will is everything, that is why it also has to be taught and trained. 

By building from these principles in a structured and holistic way, our students are able to make excellent progress, whether it’s for fitness and fun or with the aim to join our successful competition team.
